Boxed Wine in North America

The premium 3 Liter boxed wine is a growing category in the United States, with no sign of stopping! The category grew 17% in 2009, that’s double digit growth year-over-year since 2003.

Consumers and wineries have fueled this continuous growth. Many wineries looking to bring value to their customers and differentiate themselves in a crowded marketplace have launched premium 3L boxed wines in North America. These wineries are combining creative branding with quality wine. In turn, these boxed wines are having a positive effect on the category’s sales and image.

Consumers are recognizing the quality, convenience and value of 3L boxed wine over traditional glass bottles. Boxed wine is convenient to take to parties, picnics, and outdoor adventures because of the lack of glass and small package footprint. Boxed wine is also ideal for a customer looking to enjoy an occasional glass of wine for up to six weeks without the risk of spoilage.
